Synchronicity happens.
I was having trouble with the Hummingbird guitar and I mentioned it to my friend who was loaning it to me. It kept dropping out of tune, partially because new stings stretch, but also because they kept sliding the bridge pegs up and out. It was a tired and well played guitar.
I mentioned that I was looking at a few guitars online and that I might just buy one. He gave me a couple of pointers on what to look for, such as how close the strings are to the frets. It is called the guitar’s action. He suggested to get it as close as possible, without the strings buzzing.
Late last week he visited the office where I work and even before he put his stuff down he said, “You buy that guitar yet?”. I told him no and he smiled, “Good!” and proceeded to tell me that a friend of his was giving him a guitar and that he was going to give it me.
Needless to say, I was awestruck and didn’t know what to say. He told me it was a really nice guitar, called a Breedlove. All I could say was thank you. It made my day.
Today, the Breedlove arrived:

Now I feel obligated to learn how to play such a beautiful instrument. I have invited my friend over to teach me, when he has the time.
When he dropped off the guitar, he also gave me some supplies:
Cleaner & Polish Not for use on the strings, fretboard, neck, or bridge! He was very insistent about it.
A basic chromatic guitar tuner
Guitar humidifier. The main killer of acoustic guitars is humidity, and usually too little of it. This little doodad helps to keep the guitar humidified while in the case. There are many options, but a popular one is the Dampit.
