Winter blues

This is my least favorite month.

February is either too cold and snowy or warm and muddy to do much outside. January is ok, because it usually just stays cold and cabin fever hasn’t yet set in. February always leads to a longing to go play outside. March can be a mixed bag, but is usually warmish and dry.

I have a few hobbies to do indoors. The most recent being the guitar, which I’m currently neglecting. I’m doing something wrong with it, and that’s frustrating. My friend who is letting me borrow the Hummingbird is supposed to come out this weekend and do some 1 on 1 time.

Other than that, I’ve got a small 30 gallon aquarium running right now, and am making plans for the 55 gallon. There isn’t much to do with that, but feed the fish and change the water. I’ve got some Platys and Cory Cats in there. The Platys are like 3rd or 4th generation inbred and I lost the last female a couple of month ago. From now on I’m sticking to male only live-bearers. The fry don’t cause any problems, other than add to the population, but I always get a weird feeling knowing that most of them are going to be eaten….by other Platys. That and I have to be careful when doing a water change so I don’t suck one of them up.

I’ve got plenty of other things to do, and really need to get too it. Since we moved into this house a year and a half ago, my work/play area is still full of boxes of various computer parts, shooting supplies, and other hobby stuff. Getting that room set up is going to be a good project. I should stop procrastinating.
